Manila Music: Bamboo covers The Weepies

I am a big fan of The Weepies. And frankly, World Spins Madly On, the song featured in this post, would have to be on top of the long list of favorites from the folk duo. And that is why seeing Bamboo do a cover of this song almost made me momentarily forget my own name.

For the knowledge of all my readers from the other side of the world, here's the gist: Bamboo is AH-MAZING. There's really no other way to put it. His music has been gracing Philippine radios since 1994, and he has been part of two, very successful, award-winning bands: Rivermaya and Bamboo. In the demise of his latter band, Bamboo, in 2011, he ventured out into a solo career and released his very first solo album, No Water, No Moon in November last year.

Here's the video of Bamboo doing a cover of The Weepies' World Spins Madly On in a local radio show. There's a really nice play on the instruments that's more distinguishable than the original (I think I can hear a mandolin somewhere there in the background!), but what stands out the most is Bamboo's signature vocals.

Enjoy!

If you have never heard of The Weepies before, do yourself a favor and check them out. It might just be your best decision in life yet.
