Without the metaphorical implication, I judge a book by its cover. I really think covers say a lot about what's inside the pages, and that goes the same for albums. Which is why when I first checked out Amida's music, a Manchester-based indie pop band, I honestly did so because I cannot help adore their whimsical cover arts (which you can see in their Bandcamp page). Their EP names are quite artsy as well, with titles like If The Wave Loves Two Suns and My Life As A Trashcan. But what about the music? The music is nothing less as endearing.
It has been a long, slow journey for the band, John Ammirati, Amida's front man says in an interview with Berlin Beat. But he also says the band wants every song to be produced flawlessly and having its own character, and so dealing with the slow pace has actually helped them achieve this. Last year, the band was at the 2011 NYC Popfest where they got to play alongside, sigh, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart (which, if the sigh didn't already give away, I am a humungous fan of).
Amida released their fourth and longest EP, My Life As A Trashcan, earlier this June. Featured today on the blog is the fourth single in the release, the lovely song, Thank Constantine.
